Whole house reconfiguration
Project description
This client wanted to reconfigure the layout of their home to bring the layout and interior up-to-date and make it suitable for entertaining. The basement space was reconfigured to include a kitchen and wine store in the vault. Sliding doors were installed to provide direct access to the garden and maximise the amount of space and light in the basement area.
Upstairs the architect took the unusual step of loosing 2 smaller bedrooms in order to tailor the house specifically to meet the clients living requirement for larger more spacious bedrooms. The space was reconfigured to create a large bedroom with walk-in dressing room and en-suite bathroom as well as large guest room and en-suite bathroom in the loft space.
As part of the project a defective flank wall was repaired, new services were installed and a new lighting layout was created. A domestic sprinkler system was also installed to allow the desired open plan layout whilst conforming to building regulations.
